Our Princesses have love to spread, whether that’s Irish Cheer or helping children make Valentine’s Day cards at Women’s Advocates, we are here!
We had a great night serving the annual pancake breakfast at Little Sisters of the Poor. After serving, we were able to mingle and eat with the residents. Thank you so much!
The cold can’t keep us at bay! It was a pleasure to help with the giant slide and represent the St. Patrick’s Association at the Vulcan Snow Park.
The Association is eager to start our Irish season in 2018 and we look forward to seeing you at noon on Saturday, March 17th for the parade.
We are in need of Parade Marshals, help us line up units and answer questions. It’s a fun job that will have a huge impact on the parade, you’ll receive a free shirt and a complimentary lunch! If you are interested in being a parade marshal fill out the form at Parade Marshal Sign up and you can help put on the greatest parade in the nation.
The Shamrock Princesses, Miss Shamrock and with a few association members went to Shaller Family Sholom East Campus last night to play BINGO. The princesses brought residents who wanted to play down from their rooms. Once bingo started the girls helped residents with their bingo boards, they took turns calling bingo and most importantly they spent time with the lovely residents. Every time we go to Sholom Home the residents love to see us and we get a pretty big turnout for bingo, last night was no different. We had residents show up who we were told never come to bingo. We had a wonderful night and were told to come back soon.
Thank you to everyone that participated in our 1st Annual Bowling tournament, it was a huge success with over 57 participants. An extra big thank you to Flaherty's for being such a generous host! You can find them at 1273 County Rd E, Arden Hills, MN 55112.

This month we are profiling Jeff Schmidt. The current President of the St. Patrick's Association
How did you find out about the St. Patrick's Association?
I was first told about the SPA when my wife ran for Miss Shamrock in 2005. I had no idea how much work went into the parade, and that there was an entire association that organized it.
How long have you been a member of the Association?
I joined the SPA in 2006
What positions have you held in the Association?
My first assignment was as a co chair for corperate sponsors. From there, I became chair of the button and button blitzing committee. During this time, I helped form the Blarney Brother committee and would later become the chair. I have also been the head of the Post Parade bus tour committee, as well as the co chair to the annual SPA food drive. Then I was elected co vice president and sat on the executive committee, until last year when I was elected President.
How would you describe your personality to somebody who has never met you?
An honest answer would be that I am very outgoing, professional (at times) and have a sense of humor that a few people enjoy.
What would be your dream/perfect job?
Owner and operator of a Micro brewery/ tap room by day, and designer of light up clothing by night.
You have been given $5000 to give to a charity of your choice. What charity would you give the money to and why?
I'd give it to the Ronald McDonald house.
What is your vision for the future of the Association?
My vision would see the St.Paul Parade being ranked as the number one St.Patricks parade in the nation. I would also see us at tbe center of the Irish community, pulling together other organizations that are have like minded goals for collaberation and support.
What is something about you that people don't know or would be surprised to know?
Somtimes I actually sleep. Rumor has it I stopped doing that back in 98.
You have a week where you can go anywhere and do anything. Where would you go and what would you do?
I would visit Europe, fly on a hang glider, go deep sea fishing, and write Jeff was Here on a wall in each country traveled to.
Excluding St. Patrick's Day, what is your favorite holiday and how do you celebrate it?
Does the State Fair count as a Holiday?
